A[>]ctresses // voicework
Only three women have voiced Ami in the anime series and audio CDs. Each has an individual take on the character which creates many varying opinions on what Ami is like. It is further proof that Ami is more than just a static character and has a wide range of emotions and a very complex personality. Please note that these are only the voice actresses from the anime. Please visit the seramyu actress page or Hama Chisaki page if you're looking for the live-action actresses.

Hisakawa is perhaps my most favorite voice actress. Why? Because of her incredible talent and range. I never guessed that she did Keroberos and Mercury; she can mask her voice very well. But even through all myriad of roles, she does keep a gentleness and sweetness to her voice that is sometimes lost in other voice actors. I think that's the reason why she has gotten so much work over the years. I've heard one of her albums -- it was pretty nice. Hisakawa's vocal quality is very clear, smooth, and sweet (perfect for Ami). Her image songs always have a very calming effect. She was a great pick for the voice of Ami!
K[>]aren.Bernstein // SM-SMR+Movies
Very little known about Karen Bernstein and her career. She first appeared on TV as Violent Sinclair in the Canadian movie "Why Shoot the Teacher?" (1977). Bernstein began her first voice acting job as the star voice in "Hello Kitty" (1993). Her most recent job was a toddler TV series, "Little People: Big Discoveries" in 2002.[3] After that, Bernstein disappeared from the acting industry.

Why Shoot the Teacher?: Violet Sinclair (1977)[3]
I LOVE Karen! She is what I imaged Amy Anderson sounding like (note: I had never heard the original Japanese version). I thought her accent fit with the character since Luna's actress had an accent and they were close friends. I've always felt that Karen's intonation and voice pacing was extremely similar to Hisakawa's, almost sounding just like her. She did add a lot of emotion to her voice, especially during attacks or transformations (I loved her Mercury Bubbles!). Karen's voice came off cool, sweet, intelligent, yet with a hint of underlying power and sensitivity. I must say, she is my second favorite english Sailormoon VA out of them all (other than Susan Roman). I do wish she would've stayed on for the following seasons, but I was glad to hear her in the movies, atleast.
L[>]iza.Balkan//SMS-SMSS
Not much personal information is known about Liza Balkan. She is not traditonally a voice actress and has appeared in such TV movies as Crown Heights (2004) and The Babymaker: The Dr. Cecil Jacobson Story (1994).[4]
I never liked Balkan's voice style. For me, it was too robotic and emotionless. She tried too hard to imitate that of Bernstein and ended up making Amy sound like a 30-year old woman. All her deliverances were quite bland and lack any energy. I always felt Balkan's voice was too deep and monotone for the gentle personality of Amy; her tone was unchangeable. I believe she could've been much better in her approach to the character. Balkan had an unusual quality to her voice which could've been something. I would've loved to have seen her play Viluy because I think that coldness and emotionless in her voice would've added a lot to the role.
